The Ducks announced Wednesday morning that Coach Randy Carlyle has been given a two-year contract extension, which keeps him behind the bench through the 2010-2011 season.
Carlyle had one season left on his contract. He is entering his fourth season as Ducks coach in which he is 138-74-34, a franchise record for victories and winning percentage (63 percent).
Carlyle has guided the team to six playoff series victories, highlighted by the Stanley Cup championship in 2007.
“We’ve had an aggressive, hard-working club in each of the past three years, largely due to his influence,” General Manager Brian Burke said in a release.
“He’s clearly been paramount to our success since taking over the reins.”
Carlyle and Burke will hold conference calls later today. Check the Ducks blog for more details.
