Chris Pronger held court with Register subscribers for a “Register Insiders Q&A” session on Wednesday night. With training camp set to open Saturday, he answered questions serious and offbeat and offered up a few one-liners, barbs and bulletin board material - for his teammates.
Highlights can be found here.
And here is some additional material, spliced together randomly, from the 30-minute session.
Q: What are your feelings about new defenseman Steve Montador?
A: I think he’s going to add a good presence back there. He’s a good skating defenseman, mobile that can play with a physical edge and is willing to fight anybody. He’ll fill that 5-6 hole quite well.
Q: It seemed like last year Francois Beauchemin’s game kind of tapered off from what it was the season before. Do you think Beauchemin can elevate his game back to what it was two years ago or is that just the ebb and flow of the seasons?
A: I think two years ago everybody on our team had career years and we were just dialed in. It was like a perfect storm … last year, it was difficult to focus. You get off to a poor start and you get in a rut and it’s hard to get out. That’s kind of what you use training camp for - to slowly build up chemistry with your partner and your line combination.
Q: Are there teams you can’t stand to play?
A: You mean, like, I want to puke when I see their players? There’s quite a few of those in the league … there’s a number of cities you want to get in and out. Edmonton’s one of them. There are teams you have rivalries with - San Jose, L.A. - and we’re starting to get a pretty good rivalry with Dallas now.
Q: The Ducks visited the White House last year. How was it to meet the President?
A: It was fun. He was real down-to-earth cool. He was slapping guys on the back. He was talking Scotty (Niedermayer) up about going mountain bike riding together. I can imagine with everything that goes on in his job, he was glad to take a 15-minute break and kind of relax and decompress.
Q: Who were your idols when you were growing up?
A: I was a big Mike Bossy fan. I loved watching him come down and let that big slapper go. As I got a little bit older I loved watching Ray Bourque and Al MacInnis.

Brandy, what the…??? I think you’re reading between the lines a bit too much, where does he admit to being a “classless goon”? I was at the event and Pronger I don’t recall him saying it either. The only thing “classless” I’ve seen here is YOUR comment.
Uhmm, do you not watch hockey? They do consistently nail him on the high hits and cheap shots.
I didn’t mention this before in my other comments, but my full name is Brandy Izgaye and I am like Helen Keller. I root for the Kings because they get owned by the Ducks every season and they haven’t even won a championship throughout their 40 year history of mediocrity. I slit my wrist too because I’m emo like every single Kings fan. I enjoy listening to sorry announcers like Jim Fux and I get turned on by them. Alright then, I will move on with my miserable life and not post here ever again because I have a life
Brandy, he was suspended twice during their Stanley Cup playoff run. You really don’t know what you’re talking about.
Pronger’s a punk and sooner or later, what goes around comes around.
See you at the rink Chrissy
I think Proner dissed Edmonton. Maybe he’ll get boo-ed there again. LOL. Brandy sounds like a Kings groupie. Ugh.
Pronger’s a retard — Edmonton doesn’t want to see his face either.
Well Christopher Pronger, if you dislike Edmonton that much still, ( and thanks for clearing the air too..)why bother coming back then? It’s not like you’re needed on the team anyways and besides, the only reason you’re going to be puking is due to the vertigo from every other player skating circles around you. You had your shot in the sun and it is now setting, and FAST!! Brandy is 100% correct in her assumption. He doesn’t even need to admit to being a classless goon, it emminates from his gap toothed grin.
Hey, it’s funny how you didn’t puke about Edmonton when they stepped up and signed you to a 5 yr deal and St. Louis decided to keep Tkachuk and Weight instead of you. Edmonton was sure good enough then wasn’t it ?
He liked Edmonton enough to sign a five-year contract to play there until his commander decided otherwise. Maybe she does his interviews for him now, too.
And Christine Pronger shows why “he’s” a classless prick once again. Give the Edmonton bashing a rest, will you? Time to grow up and get over yourself.
Yeesh, and this dumbass wonders why he’s booed everytime he comes to Edmonton. Stop bashing Edmonton and maybe we’ll start showing you more respect.
