Some statistical and historical notes regarding Bobby Ryan’s hat trick on Thursday night, courtesy of Elias Sports Bureau and team officials …
Ryan’s three goals in a span of 2:21 were the fastest in club history. The previous mark was held by Teemu Selanne, who scored a hat trick in 12:18 on Nov.10, 1997 against San Jose.
It was the fastest three goals by an NHL rookie since 1938, when Detroit’s Carl Liscombe pulled off the feat against Chicago in 1:52.
It was also only the third natural hat trick (three goals in succession) by a Duck. Selanne last did it on Nov.26, 1999.

Breaking a 70-year-old rookie record is nothing to sneeze at. Wow.
Definitely keep an eye on this kid… he’s going places!
