Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin and center Todd Marchant were noticeablyabsent from Monday morning’s practice at the Anaheim ICE facility.
Speculation about the condition of Beauchemin’s repaired knee began to spread among members of the media but Ducks coach Randy Carlyle put that to rest during his post-practice news conference.
“Beauchemin and Marchant, both their wives were giving birth this morning,” Carlyle said.
I didn’t know there were doubleheaders in hockey. Just kidding.

Wow, ex Duck Kunitz just had a kid. Now beauch & marchant welcome new babies. Hmmm….
