Shortly after informing Ducks general manager Bob Murray that he will put off retirement for at least one more year, Niedermayer said expects to re-sign with the team, quite possibly before Wednesday, when he stands to become an unrestricted free agent.
“I think it will work out,” Niedermayer said. “I don’t think I have a concern that it won’t.
“I guess nothing is written in stone. Bob and I spoke briefly. We didn’t have a long discussion about that (a new contract), but we probably will later tonight or tomorrow. Obviously, Bob has to deal with the big picture for the team. That affects everybody involved. I guess I have to hear his side of it, and then I will have a better idea.”
Murray was busy Friday with the NHL entry draft, which began at 4 p.m. in Montreal and continues Saturday.
“I’m excited,” Niedermayer said. “I’m excited to have at least one more year in the NHL, competing in the NHL and playing hockey.”

ESPN.com just confirmed it w/ his agent too. Well, I’m glad this is over, but damn, talk about last minute decisions. The draft is a little more than 30 minutes away.
Gotta love Mr. Greybeard’s Wild Ride.
So, I guess this might be goodbye to Prongs?
if the offer is right. there’s some big name defenseman out there on the market. who’s going to give the best return? I’m guessing a team that can meet our need of a number 2 center.
‘Fraid so…
What makes everybody think Niedermayer is returning to Anaheim?
Because he is, doh!
tsn.ca reporting Pronger is traded to Philly. No info on who’s coming here
Pronger gone to Philly. Lupul returning.
Nice trades, more to come I’m sure. Hmmm, hoping Jiggy’s looking to waive his no trade clause!
Ducks deal Pronger for Lupul, Sbisa, draft picks

The Ducks have traded defenseman Chris Pronger to the Philadelphia Flyers for former Ducks right wing Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Luca Sbisa, first-round draft picks this year and next year and a conditional third-round pick in 2010 or 2011.
The Ducks acquired Pronger from the Edmonton Oilers in 2006 for a package that included Lupul.
The deal gives the Ducks the 15th and 21st picks Friday night in the first round of the NHL entry draft, leaving open the possibility that they might be able to package those picks to move up in the first round.
Smoking Deal!
Thank you CHRIS PRONGER for helping to bring home a STANLEY CUP to good old Anaheim (OC), CA.
You will always be appreciated by this Ducks fan.
Give em hell in the East.
Glad to see Scott Favre finally made a decision. Shoulda kept Pronger and let old gray beard go…
