Christensen signs one-year deal with Ducks

ANAHEIM — The Ducks on Tuesday night announced the signing of left wing-center Erik Christensen to a one-year contract.
Christensen, whom the team declined to extend a qualifying offer on Monday because it would have meant a raise of at least 5 percent, agreed to a one-way deal worth the same $750,000 he made last season.

The Ducks acquired Christensen, 25, in a March 4 trade that sent prospect Eric O’Dell to the Atlanta Thrashers. Christensen totaled a combined seven goals and 28 points in 74 games last season, including two goals and nine points in 17 games with the Ducks. Christensen also appeared in eight Stanley Cup playoff games with the Ducks, collecting two assists.
Christensen is recovering from June 4 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He suffered the injury last season while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins and is unlikely to be ready for the opening of training camp in September.
The Ducks, meanwhile, were continuing negotiations with Kevin Epp, the agent for defenseman Scott Niedermayer, and hoped to reach an agreement before Niedermayer becomes an unrestricted free agent at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Nice to see Niedermayer back.
The signing of Christensen is absoulute waste of money.
I don’t think signing Christensen is a waste of money at all…he’s going to be a great asset to the Ducks. Just watch!
