Christensen is recovering from June 4 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He suffered the injury last season while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins and is unlikely to be ready for the opening of training camp in September.
The Ducks, meanwhile, were continuing negotiations with Kevin Epp, the agent for defenseman Scott Niedermayer, and hoped to reach an agreement before Niedermayer becomes an unrestricted free agent at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
