The only word early Wednesday morning from the Ducks and Kevin Epp, the Vancouver-based agent who represents defenseman Scott Niedermayer, was that contract negotiations were ongoing.
“We are working on something right now,” Epp wrote in an e-mail to the Register.
Niedermayer, the team captain who stands to become an unrestricted free agent at 9 a.m., notified the Ducks on Friday that he planned to put off retirement and play another NHL season, likely with the Ducks.
Ducks general manager Bob Murray is handing the negotiations with Epp.
