Ducks’ Selanne has not decided beyond 2009-10

July 6th, 2009, 9:00 am · 2 Comments · posted by Dan Wood, Staff writer

Teemu Selanne wants Ducks fans to know that he has yet to make any decision about possibly ending his NHL career after next season.

Through a Ducks spokesman, Selanne sent word from Finland that a newspaper report in his homeland picked up last week by Canadian media outlets is incorrect.

The report had quoted Selanne as saying that the 2009-10 season would definitely be his last.

Selanne, who has contemplated retirement each off-season since the Ducks won the 2007 Stanley Cup championship, has annually taken his playing future on a year-to-year basis.

Selanne, who turned 39 Friday, is the Ducks’ all-time leader with 352 goals and 743 points, and is 21 goals short of the 600 milestone in his brilliant NHL career that began with the former Winnipeg Jets in 1992.
