Pittsburgh’s Malkin to miss Ducks game

October 30th, 2009, 9:55 am · 4 Comments · posted by Curtis Zupke, Staff writer

At least local fans will get to see Sidney Crosby

The defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins will make a rare appearance at Honda Center on Tuesday, but center Evgeni Malkin is out 2-3 weeks with a shoulder strain.

Malkin was the NHL’s scoring leader last season and a Hart Trophy candidate.

Pittsburgh last came to Anaheim on Nov.6, 2006, which was also Malkin’s only other Honda Center appearance.

While injuries to star players for other teams are never a good thing, hopefully the Ducks find a way to take advantage of Geno’s absence.

Just like tonight, hopefully the Ducks take advantage of Luongo being out.

Now if there’d only be a way to have Crosby miss that game too.

I am just not that impressed by Sid the Kid. Takes much more than one guy to win for a team. He did not win the Cup alone last season.

I prefer to have a Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan on our team (Along with the rest of our group_

It is a shame more is not written about our young Duck stars.

Looking forward to the game tonight, that is it.

The problem is East Coast bias. The way way West Coast never gets any respect.

Though, to be fair, our guys aren’t really earning their respect yet this season.
