Locals shine in international play

A couple of local hockey notes to pass along…

Rocco Grimaldi of Rossmoor had a goal and two assists to lead the U.S. National Under-17 team to an 8-2 victory over Switzerland in the Under-17 Four Nations Cup on Saturday in Trnava, Slovakia.

The U.S. finished 3-0. Grimaldi was named the tournament’s best forward.

Also, Matthew Nieto of Long Beach had two assists as the U.S. Under-18 team defeated Finland, 4-1. The Under-18 team will play Switzerland in Sunday’s final.
