Niedermayers won’t play each other

The big, fat juicy story line surrounding next week’s Ducks-Devils game will sadly not be played out. nieds

New Jersey Devils winger Rob Niedermayer has been placed on injured reserve with an upper body injury and won’t be eligible to play against brother Scott when the Ducks play at New Jersey on Wednesday.

Rob Niedermayer suffered the injury last Wednesday and must sit out for one week, meaning he will miss the matchup by one day.

Rob Niedermayer signed with New Jersey - Scott’s former team - late this offseason after he spent six seasons with the Ducks from 2003-09, including the last four with Scott.

Their partnership in Anaheim produced the everlasting image of them hoisting the Stanley Cup together in 2007 (above).
