Outlook
Tampa Bay has earned points in six straight games and 10 of its past 11 … C Steve Stamkos, the top pick in the 2008 draft, and LW Ryan Malone have scored 25 of the team’s 47 goals, the largest percentage (53.2%) of any twosome in the NHL … Monday’s victory against Phoenix snapped a 16-game streak in which one or the other had scored … G Mike Smith will reportedly make his second straight start in goal after G Antero Niittymaki played the past five games … Tampa Bay defeated the Ducks, 4-3, at Honda Center on Jan.9 … The Lightning have been outshot in eight straight games and in 13 of its past 14, including a 31-19 disadvantage Monday.
For the love of god hard wire it around the boards when you dump the puck in. Smith is like Turco Jr….I don’t want to see him playing the puck all night long…
And there are other ways to dump it out of goalie’s reach: cross ice, soft -short, or hard straight. I don’t think that Carlyle even noticed how many pucks we lose on these poorly executed dumps.
Bolts have two fine scoring lines now that Vinny and Tanguay are scoring. Watch for some cat & mouse between Tocchett & Carlyle involving Niedermayer & St. Louis.
Will be nice to see former Duck Todd Fedoruk again. It’s amazing he’s still playing after all the concussions. He’s still got the wheels and is as eager as ever on the forecheck but Todd doesn’t win many fights anymore.
