The Ducks placed centers Saku Koivu and Ryan Carter on injured reserve Wednesday and recalled center MacGregor Sharp from Bakersfield of the East Coast Hockey League.
Koivu (groin-muscle) and Carter (foot) are still eligible to play because they have sat out at least seven days from their last game, but the Ducks needed to make room for the 24-year-old Sharp.
The 6-foot-1, 186-pound center had four goals and 10 assists in 15 games with the Condors. He tied for fourth in the nation in scoring with 26 goals and 24 points in 43 games with the University of Minnesota-Duluth last season.
I’m excited to see Sharp. He had a great last season at UMD. He basically seemed to burst out of nowhere.
Good to see the kid get a chance in his first year pro after not having been drafted…
Let’s hope the Ducks tradition of signing good free agent college kids continues….
Let’s hope Sharp works out.
It seems to me that the Ducks are probably missing Ebbett right about now with all the injuries.
Sharp will take us to the Promise Land
I am again quite pessimistic. I agree, the Ducks should give more opportunities to young promising talents (Sharp is 24) , but we kicked out Miller and Ebbett, (and others) and now we are supposed to believe that MacGregor is going to be the right solution.
Mope, mope.
Who said Sharp was supposed to be the right solution? He an injury call up. I think you might be the only person who regrets losing Miller and Ebbett.
It looks like we disagree with each other on many issues. But many other people here agree with me.
I’d take Miller or Ebbett over Christenson any day. Over Artukin for that matter.
I’d take Miller or Ebbett over Christensen any day. Over Artukin for that matter. Might as well start seeing what we have on the farm because what we have on the ice isn’t working.
